SAVAGE HARVEST was inspired by Cherokee ghost stories told to director
Eric Stanze. All the stories were true, according to those
interviewed. These witnesses described supernatural occurrences that
took place in Jefferson County, Missouri, in the same areas where SAVAGE
HARVEST was shot.
SAVAGE HARVEST was produced in 29 long, jam-packed days of shooting.
Shot in 1993, SAVAGE HARVEST utilized flood footage captured during the
Midwest's "Great Flood" of '93. This flood covered much of the St.
Louis area. Many shooting locations throughout the production of SAVAGE
HARVEST were difficult to drive to because so many bridges, roads, and
highways were under water.
SAVAGE HARVEST actress Pat Coffey, who plays Trish at the children's
camp, is the high school drama coach of former students Eric Stanze and
DJ Vivona. For two years, Coffey guided Stanze and Vivona in Missouri
competitions to set record-breaking high scores and win multiple first
place medals in the category of duet acting.
Before he was cast to play the snarling demon Retlawkoob, actor Jerry
Bates performed stand-up comedy in the St. Louis area.
