Synopsis:

Years ago, a Cherokee elder summoned into our world an evil that eventually destroyed his entire tribe. Now, on the land that was once inhabited by the tribe, demonic forces await the return of this long-dead Cherokee elder. When these demons sense the arrival of the elder's descendent, they gain the ability to possess human beings. A small group of innocent people trapped on the land must unlock the riddles left behind by the Cherokee elder. Demonic possession consumes one victim after another as showers of blood drench the earth and shrieks of pain echo throughout the forest. The possessed are animalistic, frenzied killing machines, feeding on the warm meat of fresh kills.

Film Facts

SAVAGE HARVEST was inspired by Cherokee ghost stories told to director Eric Stanze. All the stories were true, according to those interviewed. These witnesses described supernatural occurrences that took place in Jefferson County, Missouri, in the same areas where SAVAGE HARVEST was shot.

SAVAGE HARVEST was produced in 29 long, jam-packed days of shooting.

Shot in 1993, SAVAGE HARVEST utilized flood footage captured during the Midwest's "Great Flood" of '93. This flood covered much of the St. Louis area. Many shooting locations throughout the production of SAVAGE HARVEST were difficult to drive to because so many bridges, roads, and highways were under water.

SAVAGE HARVEST actress Pat Coffey, who plays Trish at the children's camp, is the high school drama coach of former students Eric Stanze and DJ Vivona. For two years, Coffey guided Stanze and Vivona in Missouri competitions to set record-breaking high scores and win multiple first place medals in the category of duet acting.

Before he was cast to play the snarling demon Retlawkoob, actor Jerry Bates performed stand-up comedy in the St. Louis area.

In May of 1996 (Issue #152), Fangoria did a four page spread on SAVAGE HARVEST.
